Jemmej ... still around and participating actively in our BBC Regs on a Raft games at ESPN
Unfortunately, I lost his e-mail addresses (and much, much more) in a hard drive crash a couple of years ago.

I actually met him years ago. Actually hooked him up with a hotel room for his sister or something. This happened right after the whole "fall out" over what I can't remember.

Deceased, several years ago (heart condition, if memory serves me correctly). Flot might remember receiving an e-mail with details.

Wow, didn't know that about anta. I think anta was the person that first got me into the group. I was also wondering about the fall-out while reading your messages. I wasn't as in touch as most of you guys and don't go as far back as some either. I remember there was a small group back while I was in college in the late 90s. IIRC, BBC was the game where we chatted mostly, but I didn't chat much at all after college. I remember the sandbox games as well. But I remember when there was the split and there was BBC Regs and BBC Regs on a Raft. I'm not sure who went where but someone told me to join the rafters so I did. I also remember attempting to meet someone from the group back in the late 90s somewhere in NC, maybe Burlington, on my way home from college one weekend. But my girlfriend freaked out and we didn't stop. I don't remember who it was or why my girlfriend made a big deal. Maybe cause it was a girl...

O' Man never knew Anta passed away. [BLEEP] that was old school. How long we be playing these games?? I know I was out of the loop for a short while. But I got to say you guys (and gal) have been the best group I've been with for fantasy gaming. I know if I do well here I earned it. LOL

Which aint too often.

I want to say I first started chatting around '97. Used to post under Mel Kiper Jr, trying to trick people that I was the real deal :-).

I also think some people in this league still think Funston is actually Brandon Funston. Rubes :-)

We went our separate ways at the halfway point of the 2000 season. Baseball Challenge groups were limited to 50 teams and there was a serious ego issue involved (on the part of the original group's creator) in determining who was allowed entry into "BBC Regs." Bears and I tried to make the split as amicable as possible and the "Raft," so named by Kris, was launched.

Most people don't realize the actual raft was the same one used by Tom Hanks in "Castaway". :o

Do you remember who of the original group didn't get on the raft? There was at least one other female in the group. I actually wondered if Keelty was a girl for a while just because of how he spelled his name. I think it was his baseball prospects that made me realize he was a guy. Am I remembering that right? Kris, didn't you try out for a major league baseball team as a pitcher? Was Kris 'southpaw' or was that someone else?

The 2000 BBC Regs (original group) included Carolina Sluggers managed by Jennifer Montgomery. Does that name seem familiar?

Yes, I almost saw Kris pitch once. I was visiting my brother in Glens Fall, NY a few years (ok more than a few) ago and he was playing for an Independent team based there. So far the only members I've met are OJ, SOB and OJ's girlfriend at the time Ricefan I believe her name was? I go to Melbourne beach in Fla about every other year but have yet to spot a moose.

Not really, but it certainly could be who I was thinking of.

I remember that SOB was trying hard to get me and a few others to "see" his side of things. I told him when I met him that same year, that I didn't particularly like the fact that he was blackballing and demeaning others in the group, and that I would most likely go out on a raft. He tried to basically blame it all on Moose, if I remember correctly, and I felt it wasn't justified or right in his tactics, as to what he was doing. A lot of blaming from him, but no solutions. Haven't talked to him since.

Just an FYI: I expect to be in meetings most of Friday morning but will check on the progress of the draft when/if I have the opportunity and access to a computer.

Draft results have been finalized and teams are now available (select March 25 or a later date to view). Please double-check to ensure that your roster is consistent with your Draftime selections. If you spot any errors, notify me ASAP so that I can process any necessary corrections before undrafted players are released from waivers.
