Post by jeffg » Tue Feb 18, 2014 4:01 pm

Creating a thread in the forum for our 2014 discussion. Draft to officially begin Monday March 10. I'll do the draft order drawing in the next day or two if I can round up a few witnesses.

First, FYI i accidentally called our 2014 Draft 'ACS HACKERS 2013'. I emailed DraftTime admin to see if they can correct this, if not we can deal with it. Please see yesterday's email regarding sigining up.

The draft order drawing was just conducted by Jeff and John, here are the results:

1. John
2. Brian
3. Kevin
4. Steve
5. Rick
6. Mark
7. Joe
8. Claudio
9. Rich R
10. Rich L
11. Jim
12. Jeff

I'll remind everyone the week before the draft begins 3/10 via email.

Second most easiest first round pick I've ever made.

I am really hoping that Chris Davis's spring numbers are a good sign to come. I'm banking on an encore from last year. I just hope passing on Cano doesn't bite me in the ass like it did last year. I feel after pick 2 its a crap shoot on who could go 3-12 in the first round. Its great to be back, and good luck to all.

I was torn between Hanley and Cano as well. I passed on Cano as I think the lack of protection in Seattle's line-up will play a factor. Plus, this is Hanley's contract year and I'm sure he'll be playing hard, hoping to attract the attention of a certain NY team that will have an opening at SS in 2015. :o

I had my sights on Davis as well, but after you grabbed him I took a chance on Cano. I'm sure it will bite me in the [BLEEP].........

I drafted Tulo again. Can't wait for the barrage of trade offers you guys will send me again like last year selling me three bench players for him.

Thanks for leaving Votto on the turn, with our format, I had him ranked much higher. Almost took two 1B at the 1/2 turn (not Freeman).

Chuckled at Rich taking Cano only because at the couple of ballgames we've been to last year he joked about dropping a buck in a jar after him grounding to second. (I would have taken him there too).

Hopefully the Draftime server issues are behind us. It was a throwback to our first few drafts going the email route.

Pretty sure my trade offer last year was a Top 5 shortstop and a #2 fantasy starter amidst a breakout season.

The server crashed last Friday too during our keeper draft. Something about this site tells me it can't handle more than 4 people roaming on it at once.

I was hoping Votto would make it back to me but Jeff took care of that. I like Freeman a lot also (Votto Jr.), but I looked at him as a mid-late 2nd rounder so I doubted he would be around for my third pick; Jeff, Tulo doesn't run much anymore so you're left with a SS who will slam 25 dingers; I guess that's not too bad.

You would have been better off taking Votto and the Fresh Prince of Texas G

Perhaps, I am doing a little second guessing myself. Prince fell to me but I rolling the dice on an aging fragile Tulo. His OBP and SLG from the SS position were too enticing, I felt TULO+UTIL(later) > SS (Later)+Prince

Steve - For some reason I cannot ever remember you taking a Yankee. Love that you'll be rooting for Ellsbury to steal and score all year!

I am officially conceding the 'steals' category to Steve.

I am not becoming a fan of picking on the ends, 22 players is too long between my pair of picks and I feel less engaged in the pick by pick progress.

I don't think it is much of a risk. Huge upside...Good Pick!

Thank god José Bautista is finally off the board. I was gonna have to take a 2nd RF if he slid back to me. Truth be told I was seriously considering him last round

I love the Albert pick. I had him penciled in for round 4. Wrigs, I almost took Jose over Stras last round.I did not think he was going to be there this round. Hopefully his wrist and ankle hold up, but I think I have to take into consideration that he might spend a little time on the DL.

Right, no risk in a player with declining OBP% and OPS% SIX straight years, who could be older than he says he is, who has a foot injury that historically is easy to re-aggravate.

None at all.
