I'll have limited access tomorrow from my smart phone (battery needs to be tried to be kept all day) but I figure that won't be much of a problem given that it's a weekend and this things slows downs lots then. I'll check in the morning, see what's progressed and hopefully make my turn so Jeff and Kevin can do there's in the afternoon.

One pick a draft does not make, certainly. But I literally have 34 SP listed ahead of Bailey on my sheet.

Sheet? pbbbfffttt.

I like the name.

EDIT to add: I might have had him confused with Andrew.

Sorry, i wish i had more time @ work.

Amazing that my later round targets are getting snared. More so than my early targets. Should have picked Aviles the slot before Kev went, I like him in this format, and I almost took Joyce when I took Morrison then Claudio just grabbed him when I had him on my 1 person queue for this round. Also I was scared off of Marcum earlier, but was going to pick him up after his positive bullpen session report yesterday but again snagged by Claudio.

Season starts in 7 days, we should finish by Thursday or Friday.

If it makes you feel any better Jeff, I was hoping Balfour would come back to me at 17.4. I was also trying to see how far I could hold off on snagging Kuroda, but Kev made that point moot with his 17th round pick.

Wow, just read all the posts for the first time and I am [BLEEP] I missed all the dissing and talk about how the draft is going. I think the draft is moving along fine and we still might make opening day if we all can stay motivated and engaged for the last 3 rounds.

And Jeff, thanks for all you do here and your great work as the commish.

  • Same thing over here Jeff - you took Billy Butler from me in the 13th. Looking on the bright side he may have reached his potential so I took the guy with perhaps more upside in Freddie Freeman.
  • Steve just grabbed Erik Bedard and earlier took everyone's favorite man crush Adam "stick a fork in him, he's" Dunn. I was looking to take a flyer on those two but not until the last couple picks.
  • Joe swooped up Kendrys Morales about a round or two sooner than I was willing to gamble.
  • I had Addison Reed in my sights until Rick snagged him
  • And in one of those reverse fortune situations, in round 10 I was torn between Dee Gordon and Emilio Bonifacio, and then again in round 11 I thought Matt Wieters had more of a chance to grow than Alex Avila had at repeating last year or better. Lets see how this plays out Kevin.

In standard leagues, Dunn is going around pick 200, I knew I had to grab him earlier in an OBP league, plus I know many people have an irrational love for Dunn (me included)

It's funny that Claudio took Pena after I took Bedard. The two players in my queue when I went to bed? Bedard and Pena.

It never ceases to amaze me, I do 5 or 6 leagues a year, a bunch of mock drafts and read about a bunch of mock drafts and this is the ONLY standard league that actually drafts closers early and often (and yes, a non Kimbrel, Rivera, Papelbon, Axford closer before round 10 is very early). So after last year, refusing to draft them on principle alone, I figured, adapt or die.

That's true, I looked it up, you only had 28 saves last year. That is pretty awesome. But I think even you would argue the "punt or almost punt" strategy is about as risky as it gets.

TEBOW TO THE JETS. Oh boy, you guys must be going crazy in New York.

The Giants fans like me are laughing. I like Tebow, but this is only going to tear this team and it's fans apart when they start taking sides in the QB battle between him and Sanchez.

Other random thoughts about the draft...
- I think Billy Butler is still on the rise.
- I think Kendrys in rd16 has rd3-4 upside in this format if healthy
- I had Bedard in my sights as a late rounder, the NL may do him good.
- In preparing for this draft, I vetted close to 425 players between this 'office' draft and a 16 tream 25 player roster "deep" league I am in with internet buds, and even I went "WHO THE ????" when slash grabbed Dayan Viciedo.
- Slash had the most picks that swayed the most from my personal rankings, but he has bettered me the last few years so what do I know.
- Rick (SempleAndSons) gets props for being prepared when his turn is coming up and taking advantage of autopick the most. We need that with the others who are more deliberate (and before anyone jumps down my throat, I am not disparaging you).
- Homer award - Brian went a little Phillie crazy in the 17/18 rounds.
- Anti-homer award - Daz with the conflict of interest rooting issues with four Red Sox
- Managers drafting a player with the same name: Brett - Brett Myers, Kevin - JJ Putz

I am hoping a closer for the A's.... maybe not, and I'll just have to stay up late evenings snagging the new closers based on injuries throughout the year. It is tough though, because you all are quick, I'll just need to be quicker.

Whew, I was worried about how my team was going to perform this year, but now I feel better.

Claudio, today was a whirlwind trying to pick. I had about 3 guys left on my cheat sheet, so I grabbed Chapman. Last couple of round are going to be a coin toss..............

Picks loaded through rd 20. I'll load the last 13 picks once the draft is over, double check in the evening and then launch.

I'd give the Homer award to Slash for his Round 11 pick. #justsayin

I agree... It will be interesting to see how that plays out... I had targeted the guys you got, and went with Avila / Bonifacio only because Weiters / Gordon were already taken...

As far as my team, I am wondering if Dustin Ackley has the plague... I looked at him for like 4-5 rounds before i eventually snagged him.. Seattle offense sucks, but worth a flier in my book.

Baker and Belt go to the Gman so I had to reload with the big Z! Upside potential is all you can ask for with the last pick baby

I was thinking of going Baker with the 20th pick and hoping J.D. Martinez would make it back to me. Just curious if anyone had him on their radar? Not many "experts" think much of him but his manager must hitting him in the 3 hole!

both Zambrano and Belt were on my list for this round.... and taken. I think they are both great picks, hopefully Carp batting 3rd might have a few good numbers. I won't hold my breath because offensively I am not sure how many stats the Mariners will up as a team.

The best players on historically bad teams often get labelled as "the best of the bunch" when in reality the scouting reports seem to think he's a fourth OF with some 15 HR pop. Worth a flier I suppose, just on luck alone.

Man, the Astros are so unbelievably bad. I almost went Baker instead of Garcia too.
