Ok gang. The draft order is set

1. Rich R
2. John
3. Jeff
4. Claudio
5. Rick S
6. Joe
7. Steve
8. Kevin
9. Brett
10. Brian
11. Rich L

The draft will 'officially' start on Thursday March 10 at 8AM, although as usual I will launch the draft the afternoon before so folks can set up their queues, set DPs and alternate email notifications, and to familiarize yourselves with any new features with launch of draftime.com.

I have launched the draft!

Please exersize patience and expect the occasional delay, but I hope folks can keep this moving relatively painlessly and remember to check in occasionally on evenings and weekends (when you can) to try to keep the draft moving forward, and as always we don't expect you to be on top of things, but if you expect to be unavailable, please give your league mates a courtesy heads up in the message forum.

That being said, we have to finish by 3/30 so I can load the rosters and launch the season so you can have your roster available on opening day 3/31. That means we have 21 calendar days for 21 rounds (or 15 week days for 21 rounds if you count the expected slow periods over the three weekends between now and then). Do the math, we need to do between 1 and 2 rounds per day.

Check out the new features and take advantage of queues and the auto pick feature when you can. If you want to draft an unlisted player, please email, text, or contact me and we can set up a placeholder.

Lets play nice in the message forum and remember that traditional fantasy draft etiquette is you do not mention undrafted players until the draft is over or until they are selected.

We're off!! Expected to get Tulo at #3 but was pleasantly surprised to see Hanley there. Nothing against the Votto pick, he's a beast.

Ditto.. pleasantly surprised to see/grab Tulo @ #4 - made it a no-brainer pick. Was expecting to sweat out a decision between several other players...

Slash has been one to do this in recent years. Remember the Holliday pick? He likes the mashers over the 5 tool dudes. Votto could be the next Pujols or he could regress back to the next Teixeira as teams get a book on him. Like the risk taking though :o

Hey, Votto's a great player. If you're picking #2 and he's rated #6 by the world and you really like him...take him! He won't be there when your turn comes around again. I think we sometimes get caught up with the ratings on the top 10 guys. They're all great.

When Philly Brett told me he was psyched with the 9th pick, I was sure he was going another way. I bet Brian was glad he didn't :)

I was targeting Halladay since I knew I had the 10th pick but I was also prepared to go in a different direction with Mr Philly right in front of me :D

The so called deep quality starting pitcher pool suddenly seems a bit shallow

Just a heads up that Mark's office blocks draftime from Internet access. He'll be doing the tried-and-true email and designated picker (me) method for picks. He will be ok evenings and weekends when his turn comes about. Thanks for everyone's patience.

Is nothing sacred?

Actually, last year I couldn't access any of my team while I was in the Atlanta office. Lost a bunch of quality starts.

We really have become the no fun league. Draft slackers and no trash talk.

I just reached and took two of the three "A" pitchers in this draft and not a peep. Except for Richie who pulled his entire comment after breaking a sacred rule. Where the [BLEEP] is Steve? I landed my two targets but feel disappointed so far. Comon - its been a long winter with no football for some time now. Lets get into it here...

Carlos Gonzalez @ 12 might be a great pick. The dude came close to .400 OBP .600 SLG and 30 SB last year. I don't think we have ever had a player do that since I have been playing fantasy...and he plays all three OF spots

Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford both in Boston and in Rockland. Every time a good player goes to Boston the projections go through the roof but end up on the floor. Lets see if the same thing happens to Rockland

Wish I could poke a little more fun today but unfortunately most of us don't even have a second player yet so I can't make fun of the perennial "2nd Round Richie Reach"

Hey Brian! What's up. I was working with little cell service all day thus my banter was down. Yeah, I don't have anything crazy to make fun of quite yet. Believe me, I will when I see it :) No shock who the wait was for this afternoon.

I wasn't planning on taking Adrian Gonzalez. I was hoping Carlos G. would make it past the two kaufman picks and I'd be in great shape with my outfield. When Carlos was taken and Adrian was still on the board I figured it was too good to pass up. As long as I picked a Gonzalez! I should be fine as long as these guys don't try to hit HRs in Fenway; they're worth the picks without a Fenway inpact.

Thanks to Claudio for preventing me from picking up Pedroia. I was looking at zero production on a Red Sox off day.

My entire queue is gone. Guys on my cheat sheet projected as late 3rd or 4th and even 5th rounders are being snatched including Dunn and Uggla. Hitting in Chicago could elevate Dunn with the group of first-basemen above and Uggies got a phenomenal OPS in Hotlanta.

Back to the drawing board :?

I feel like I got a late first/early second round caliber hitter with my 3-03 Fielder pick, but the 1B position is so deep. Evidenced by one third (9 of the 27) of the players drafted so far are 1B eligible (athough 2 will be used at C or 3B). I like the Youk pick by Claudio, he snared my top of the queue at 2-09.

I feel like there is always someone in our draft who takes two top pitchers with their top two or three picks, but I am never sure how that works out with not that much drop off in the next tier. Brian always has eyes on late value sleepers so I know he's got a plan. I do know that league history shows first round pitchers never pan out.

I love Mark's CarGo pick. This guy with all 3 OF positions eligibility was the type of player I would have targeted in the bottom half or rd1. If I am throwing it down, I really don't like Kevins first two picks. Good fantasy players but both a bit early for my taste. But he does hold the trophy. Rick S and Rich L I feel kind of grabbed ahead too (but like Rich said, they would not make it back so if you like em, grab em). Got to say one thing about Slash, he does love the long-ballers. Steve and Brett all got solid best on the board pick ups, nothing surprising from those folks yet. As usual, my team so far rocks. Rich R is pretty by the book so far too but the two after Pujols not guys I'd want to take into battle.

My strategy is simple.

Chicks dig the long ball.
