Re: ACS Hackers 2011 draft discussion
We are done (Once Mark emails me 21.12). 11 days has to be a record.
If I have time, I'll post the rosters tonight and once they are done launch the league. I'll send an email when that happens.
In the mean time, feel free to offer your critique and criticisms. I said it last year and it applys again this year. It looks like we have 11 really balanced teams. Of course I really like mine this year.
I am going out on a limb I will predict that this will be Claudio's year. I'll also predict that Kevin will not repeat. Of course, pre season rankings mean nothing.

Mine must be the 12th team, since there are only 11 well balanced teams.

Jeff,
I agree with "balanced" in terms of overall talent, but it seems to me that a number of teams went heavy in certain areas and light in others. I would think there may be some interesting trades executed over the next couple of weeks.

Re: ACS Hackers 2011 draft discussion
So.... here are my thoughts on the draft. These are only my thoughts and not necessarily those of Draftime. The names have NOT been changed to protect the innocent/clueless:
Best Infield assembled - me (don't worry - I'm not going to relentlessly trumpet my horn throughout this post). Mourneau, Pedroia, Tulo and Youkilis = awesome, 'nuff said.
Worst Infield assembled - tie between Brett and Steve. For Brett, Morales opens the season on the 15-day DL and who knows when he'll come off of it, and Beltre is a disaster waiting to happen now that he got his $$$$. Steve's got a stud at 3B in Longo, but with Utley's situation and a rookie/sophmore combo at 1B - could be trouble.
Best OF assembled - Mark with Cruz/Cargo/Rios.
Worst OF assembled - Joe with Pence/Wells/Soriano.
Best SP staff - Mark in a close one over Wrigbone. IMHO King Felix/CC/Jered/Cain is better than Halladay/Lincecum/Gio and the 2003 All-Stars (Zambrano/Peavy/Bedard). Now if Brian had added COLON to the mix, that could have swung it his way.
Worst SP staff - Me or Rich. If Garza doesn't get the NL-boost and Kennedy doesn't improve, then I'll have to re-tool mid-season. Rich at least has 2 good/great SPs in Johnson and Hanson, but then it takes a precipitous turn with punching bags AJ/Vazquez (what, Kevin Brown wasn't around?)
Best Relievers - Slash in a hands-down, cake-walk with the back-to-back and a belly-to-belly quartet of Mo/Wilson/Axford/C Perez.
Worst Relievers - tied between Mark and Rich with only 1 true Closer each.
My team's 'Can't believe he's still available' - Morneau in the 5th round. Former AL MVP primed from a big come-back season (I hope)
League's 'Can't believe he's still available' - Prado in the 11th by Slash. Solid hitter who also adds OF eligibility to his previous 2B/3B eligibility this season.
My team's 'Could be a bust' - Gardner in the 8th round. If his OBP and runs don't remain high, then I will kick myself for not waiting 5 more rounds for a Bourn/Davis type.
League's 'Could be a bust' - Weeks in the 4th by Slash. Just am not buying that Weeks will make it through another injury-free season.
All in all - a good draft!!. Interesting to see that some managers strayed from their usual drafting patterns - which made it much more difficult (and fun) to predict. Mark's early SP selections (3 of his first 5 picks) and Slash's 4 straight Closer picks were interesting, and I have to admit that my strategy was to wait until late on SPs as well. Once I thought that I saw Slash doing the same thing, I decided to jump the gun and pick some before he and I had to battle for them on each late-round swing.
Should be a great year ..looking forward to battling!
