We'll do all our draft communication here.

On Monday 2/27 we'll draw the draft order, then the draft will start two weeks later 3/12

The estimated completion time is skewed by the 68 hours from when I launched the draft until Kevin made the first pick right at the opening bell.

Mark K has no access at work but he and I should have a text and email process now worked out for later rounds.

Remember, I always recommend automated queues. I understand if you are at the turn or many picks away it may not be worth setting one up, but if you are one or two picks away and are sure of who you want, you can at least set a one-player queue and put it on autopick and maybe that will be enough to get the guy you want and move the draft along to the next selection without having to sit and watch the paint dry.

So...how many people are going to have zero access at work during their assumed 9-5? I know John said the site may be blocked and now you're saying Mark. Couldn't that be overridden on Iphones or Droids during a break or downtime? Just wondering, the technology for us is getting better and better every season (I remember how amazing the 2009 draft was since it was my first with a smart phone) just trying to get a feel for it all.

That being said, Brian and I will complain at least three times each in the next two weeks, Jeff will talk us off the ledge and the same inconsiderate people will always be inconsiderate.

Back to draft results, the top 6 were the top 6, just like in probably 99% of regular drafts, so that's always a plus. I have Braun at 1 and Kemp at 3 - so I woke up today with a ridiculous decision to make. I'm glad Tulo went 5 here, one major publication put him at #10 on the front cover of their magazine, which is one of the more "let's be different to be different" rankings I've seen in a longtime. He should not last past six in any league, any true format.

Good luck, it's gonna be fun!

Kevin- relax take a deep breath. No one is asking you to set autopick if you don't want to. By now we know that you have a certain pick method and no one is going to change it. Its day one, we can do without the anger. We get that you don't like queues but please don't lay on the hate if I offer it up as an option for those who may consider it.

Let me be clear on Mark. The office he was in today blocks that site but the office he is in most days is fine. He was able to pick via text to me when he became available today. On days he will be back in the office without draftime access, I will be in communication with him.

All the ACSers in T-town have access through work. No one has told me otherwise.

Last year we drafted in 11 days I believe which is why we are not drafting as early as we used to. Lets just hope even though everyone is busy that they are conscious enough to hold up their end, and expect a few stalls here and there. We never needed a clock before, I doubt we will this year.

Jeff, my rant was not directed at you at all. My FYI about my queue situation was purely a reminder, and not directed at the options the league has, that you were reminding us about. I just felt compelled to write it after the usual suspects reminded me why i usually don't take advantage of queues.. I just want to say that I personally appreciate the extra work you do (Jeff), including the money you spent on this site, out of your own pocket. I feel YOU (commish) have the right to get on a soapbox and rant about the time others take to pick, because after the draft ONLY YOU are affected by how slow it took (unless we miss the start of the season, which i dont recall ever happening.)... It's just complaints from random managers is getting old..

IE: I thought it was in poor taste for Montana to reference the anticipated delays/complaints/inconsiderate people after he took 2+hours to pick the #1 guy on his board, #3 overall..

I like fun trash talk.. I just mentioned that we do not have to check the forum, and if its a complaint department, i probably won't....

ok ok -- not trying to make a big deal.. or sound cranky :)~

I think this is going to be a fun season. I tried to put a lot of work into my draft approach and hopefully this isn't fodder if I finish 12th, and more like a preseason 'called it!' to hang my hat on later... :) But with only 1 pick in the books for the newly renamed MANN B( o )( o )B's, I am already predicting to win it all!

It's competitive owners like the people who are so passionate about this league that make it more satisfying when you do win it all, so keep it up...

I got my ring. :-D Looking for #2!

See all, we practically did two rounds today. Draft held true to the rankings so far, no surprises yet.

Now we can concentrate on talking fantasy baseball! Now I just have to deal with Claudio and Steve the two managers picking right before me grabbing all my targets in the even rounds and Kevin doing the same in the two picks before me in the odd rounds.

So I'm going through the cheat sheet I downloaded from Yahoo to cross Longoria off the list. It took me a while to find him; the list had him at #93! Are they insane? They also had Justin Upton at 28.

Guess I need a new list.

I apologize for my comments coming so early in the draft. I was essentially saying we are all so common to our roles that a few managers will always take a while and Brian and I will
make jokes about it. I don't tthink I'm very random to the league though, been here since what 2006?

You don't get WebSense popping up and telling you Yahoo Sports/ESPN or any sports site for that matter is blocked? I can't even get to Food Network. And of course, personal email accounts are blocked too.

Though, I was able to get to Draftime yesterday. But I don't know if that is normal or not.

So I guess I'm one of the random managers for making a joke about you guys rigging the draft order. Obviously a joke but whatever. Since the can has been opened though I will state a few facts right now...

1) Last year Kaufman didn't pick the whole first day because he said he didn't know the draft had started or something to that effect.
2) If I had the #1 pick it would have been made the moment the draft opened.
3) If someone doesn't want to come to the "complaints department" start talking some smack instead of bashing the guys on here who actually care about playing this game and respect the each-others time.
4) In this day and age the "I don't have access at work" is rubbish. Aren't we all IT professions or at least somewhat tech savvy? I used to be able to pick with my 2006 Samsung clunker cell.

Don't join the league if you don't have the time. Spend a few minutes in the evening and scratch down a short list for the next day. I mean c'mon man - all the picks that have been made so far this draft could have been penciled right in from most major cheat sheets (except for Rockland's that is LOL). It's not rocket science. Hope you don't hate on me for this post Kevin. I think you are a good guy in real life but I have a problem with you calling guys out on here for their beliefs. I have said it before - the draft is supposed to be one of the funnest parts of the season. Nobody wants to play poker with the guy who takes forever every turn, or a more suitable example, watch a baseball game where the pitcher takes 5 minutes between pitches.

I could not resist selecting a player named 'Giancarlo' - closest I'll get to drafting anyone with a similar name as mine! :D

Um Kelf made the pick at 8:00 AM on Monday, March 12. The Draft officially started at 8:00am on Monday, March 12. What is the beef?

Am I happy that he decided to wait until the official go time? No. But that is his perogative. Pick on Friday night just to keep the nutcases happy, but then have the player get hurt in an exhibition game on Sunday? Why pick early if you don't have to?

Rubbish? Coporate policy trumps fantasy baseball policy everytime and not wanting to give them any additional excuses to can you. I can't read the screen on my cell phone and its a pain in the ass at that, so I'm not going to draft using that. Grow a pair, be a man, take a Midol and live with it.

Just a quick heads up everyone: Unfortunately the guy I was thinking about drafting now is in the starting line-up tonight so I will not be making my pick until after the game or tomorrow morning if I fall asleep before it ends :o

First please stop with the soapbox posts about "if you do not have the time, etc etc". I'm sorry some are more impatient but just stick it in your heads that this draft will take 2 weeks and then you'll think it files when it takes less.
Wrigbone wrote:Jeff surely has a man crush on Kevin Youkilis
Yup. The folks in Yankee Stadium section 209 call him "Kevin You Kill Us". He must be batting .750 when I am in attendance. He will give my team a boost in 5/6 of the offensive categories, and I'll need all of it to catch up with the "greatest team after three picks" of all time.

Glad Claudio took Hanley. I wanted him to make it back to me in rd2 but since Hanley as #4 overall ruined me last season it is good to go another way.
