NA Roster Spot in Fantasy Baseball

Post by Mario LeMoose » Sat Mar 01, 2014 11:49 am

The NA (Not Active) roster spot in Yahoo Sports Fantasy Baseball gives you the option of stashing away inactive players on your roster (like a minor leaguer or injured player) instead of using a bench position.

How the NA roster spot works
When you add a player to the NA roster spot, he won't count against your roster limit. For a player to be eligible to be placed in the NA position, he needs to have "NA" status in the game, which is generally applied the morning following his deactivation. Once a player is reactivated by his MLB team, you can place him into your starting lineup (even if he still has "NA" status) in order to start scoring for the stats he earns while playing.

Adding a player to the NA roster spot
Once a player has been assigned "NA" status, the NA position will show as one of his eligible positions. After assigning a player to the NA roster spot, you'll be able to pick up another player to replace him without having to drop anyone from your roster.

Keep in mind
Players can't be added directly from the "Available Players" list to the NA roster spot; you'll need to add them to your active roster first. If your roster is full, you'll need to drop a player before you can add them. When you move a player to the NA roster spot and add a new player in leagues using Daily-Tomorrow roster moves, make sure that the player has been moved to the NA spot for both today's and tomorrow's lineups.

Reactivating a player from the NA roster spot
To activate a player from the NA roster spot, you'll need to have an opening for an active player on your roster.
In "Daily - Tomorrow" leagues:
• Players dropped to waivers remain active on your roster for the day they're dropped.
• If your roster is full and you drop a player to waivers, an empty roster position will be created for the following day, but your roster will remain full for the current day.
• The player in the NA spot can only be activated for the following day's games unless you have another player on your roster eligible for the NA spot.
• If you have another NA eligible player, you can move your current NA player to an active roster position and replace him with your other NA player.
• Remember: When you move a player out of the NA spot, make sure that he has been removed from the NA spot for both today's and tomorrow's lineups.

Things to remember when stashing players on NA
Once in the NA roster spot, a player can stay there for the entire season, even if he returns to real-life action, but once he has been activated by his MLB team, you won't be able to complete any transactions involving adding a player to your team until you remove him from your team's NA roster spot. You'll be able to complete intra-roster moves (switching players between bench and active), regardless of a player's real-life NA status, as well as drop a player from your roster in order to open up a roster spot to activate the player from the NA. You can also use your bench spots to house NA players. If you have no available NA or bench positions, you'll need to drop the player from your roster if you want to pick up another player.

Welcome to the group, Don! Now you have two cracks at beating Curby and me.

A few of you might already know that Taxman decided to take a break from fantasy baseball this season. Rumor has it that he is working secretly a knuckleball and will join the Rangers' pitching staff in 2015.

Getting Started

Post by Mario LeMoose » Sun Mar 02, 2014 10:47 am

Official draft start: Tuesday, March 4, 9:00 a.m. EDT

• The draft will run without a time limit between picks for the first round, assuming no prolonged delays.
• After the first round, a time limit between picks will apply, if necessary, so that we do not fall behind pace.
Our goal is to complete the draft no later than March 20.
• The overnight pause will be midnight to 9:00 a.m. Eastern; this is a daily pause, i.e., also includes Saturday-Sunday.
• We will be drafting on weekends.
• Add a secondary e-mail address, if you have one, to your Draftime user account to ensure that draft notification messages are received. Make sure your primary e-mail address on record with Draftime is a current one.
• Please do not post draft-related messages at Yahoo!; use this forum. If you need to get a private message to me, use the "PM" feature here, as I rarely check my personal (rr.com) e-mail account during work hours.
• Managers with the #1 and #10 draft positions in each round have a single clock, not double time, for their picks.

All draft picks are restricted to players in the current Yahoo! pool for our league at the time your turn occurs. Please remember that the Draftime player list is not customized by league. If you have any questions regarding a player's eligibility, take a moment to check the Yahoo! player list for our league before you draft him. "Placeholders" are not allowed.

Slacker penalty: Evil Commish reserves the authority to impose reduced clock time upon any manager who repeatedly misses his/her turn. Such an extreme measure should not be necessary, given the auto-pick options available in Draftime.

Setting Upcoming Pick Notification

Post by Mario LeMoose » Sun Mar 02, 2014 11:02 am

If you haven't already taken advantage of the "Upcoming Pick Notification" alert, please consider setting one to notify you when your turn is a couple of picks away. Here's how:

Log into your Draftime account and, from the links across the top of the page, click "Edit Account." Next, click "Manage Email Notifications." Two choices are available. Under "Upcoming Pick Notification," set a number of picks before *your* next pick, then click the Edit button. You should see the following message in green type: "Preference Updated: Upcoming Pick Notification X Pick(s) Before." (X represents the number of picks that you selected.) It's that easy!

Sorry for the delay today. Just got a new phone and didn't set all the settings (like getting email automatically instead of manually) like they should have been. This error has been corrected (Hopefully!!), and I now return you to your regular broadcast.

Round 9 Delay

Post by Mario LeMoose » Sun Mar 09, 2014 6:07 pm

I'm moving us along (sorry, Jeff). We've gone most of Sunday without any picks and I do not want us to fall behind pace to finish the draft by March 20.
